چکیده
Study design, case-control study: Background, Morton’s extension (ME) is a kind of orthotic that has been used as conservative treatment painful hallux rigidus (HR) osteoarthritis, but only their effects on first metatarsophalangeal joint (MPJ) mobility and position in healthy subjects have studied, not its applied pulled tension forces neither with HR. Objectives: This study sought to understand how ME’s orthotics three different thicknesses could influence the kinematic MPJ by measuring dorsiflexion using Jack’s test digital algometer rigid strip anchored iron hook’s extremity comparing those We aimed clarify whether values were between HR subjects. Methods: Fifty-eight selected, whom thirty included case group according criteria twenty-eight control group. A (FPX®® 25, Wagner Instruments®®, Greenwich, CT, USA) was assess (kgf) during test. Results: The highly reliable (ICC > 0.963). There no statistically significant differences for ME conditions (p = 0.969) or 0.718) groups. However, it’s expected, there all < 0.001). Conclusions: Different had effort groups; therefore, it can be prescribed without joint-care danger. In addition, proven greater resistance performing than group, regardless orthotics. Furthermore, shown device valid tool detect restriction more other tests.

Hallux rigidus
An estimated 40% of the US population have foot problems.Of all patients aged over 50 years, 2.5% report degenerative arthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint, termed 'hallux rigidus'. First MTP osteoarthritis is the most common arthritic condition in the foot.Progression of great toe arthritis is associated with pain and loss of motion. Non-surgical intervention begins with shoe ...
متن کاملHallux rigidus: treatment by cheilectomy.
Cheilectomy, the excision of an irregular osseous rim that interferes with motion of a joint, was performed on the distal part of the first metatarsal of twenty-five patients who had hallux rigidus. Relief of pain was achieved in all but three patients, whose cases were considered as failures. Joint motion improved by an average of 20 degrees, and it was in an acceptable range in twenty-three p...

Hallux rigidus refers to degenerative arthritis of the first metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. Although Davies-Colley provided the first description of the condition in 1887, Cotterill coined the term hallux rigidus to characterize the painful limitation of motion at the first MTP joint.15,18 After hallux valgus, it is the most common affliction of the great toe and the most common form of degen...
متن کاملThe pathogenesis of hallux rigidus.
The clinical, radiological and pathological features of hallux rigidus affecting nine toes (in seven patients) are described. Characteristic chondral and osteochondral lesions are seen to occur at a specific site on the metatarsal head, and account for the limitation of dorsiflexion but relatively unrestricted plantarflexion typical of hallux rigidus. Radiologically these lesions are often miss...
متن کاملHallux Rigidus: A Treatment Algorithm
First metatarsophalangeal joint osteoarthritis, commonly known as hallux rigidus, is a progressive disabling condition. Several staging classification systems exist. We present a staging system incorporating radiographic findings, range of motion, and presence or absence of mid-motion pain and sesamoid pain. On the basis of these clinically significant variables, we present an algorithm for tre...
